It is one of those mornings where there is a stillness in the atmosphere. After an Easter weekend of sunshine…
Welcome to NTCG Herne Hill
A Passionate and Vibrant Church in the heart of Herne Hill, London
We Are NTCG Herne Hill
Christ
Jesus is the centre of everything we do at our church. As God’s only begotten son, He showed us the way to a relationship with God and the path to eternal life.
Church
As a family, we understand that unity is crucial, especially when it comes to our shared faith in Christ. It is through our unity in Christ that we are able to grow closer together and fulfil our purpose of spreading His love to the world.
Connect
Our church offers a variety of opportunities for believers to connect and grow together, including weekly services, fellowship events, small community groups, and various ministry teams.
Community
We believe that the church is not just a place to come and hear a message, but a community of believers coming together to encourage and support each other. That’s why community is a vital aspect of our church.
Coming Soon
At our church, we believe that Jesus is coming soon and it is our duty to be ready for His return. We strive to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and to prepare ourselves and our congregation through prayer, study of the Word, and living out our faith in a way that honours Him.

The History of NTCG Herne Hill
In the early 1900s, a church was set up in a small wooden shack in Croxted Road to serve the
newly built Peabody Estate in Rosendale Road. It was originally built at St. John the Evangelist (C
of E), a daughter church of Holy Trinity Church in Trinity Rise. The congregation increased, so a
larger but temporary iron church (‘tin chapel’) was built in Guernsey Grove. In June 1911, the
foundation stone to the present building was laid. The architect was Leonard Martin (1869-1935),
formerly of the Treadwell and Martin partnership. The original ‘tin chapel’ was transferred to
Abersoch in North Wales.
The New Testament Church of God was founded in 1866 in the USA. It has branches in 160
countries. The UK branch was established in September 1953 by Rev Dr Oliver A. Leyseight at
YMCA Hall, Waterloo Road, Wolverhampton. It is now the largest African-Caribbean led Pentecostal
Church in the UK, with over 100 churches around the country. The Building in Guernsey e was
acquired in 1975.
The church contains a memorial plaque on which are written the names of 86 men from Holy
Trinity and St John’s who lost their lives in the 1914-18 war.
